London to Hong Kong Island by Train

Summary

This report is a description of a journey that I did with my brother in June to July of 1995. The text and photographs were all written/taken by me. The plan was to travel from London to Hong Kong, doing every inch of the journey by train (including Metros and Subways) or foot. Other forms of transport were used (buses, taxis, minibuses, hydrofoils and even a helicopter) for excursions but not for any part of the main journey. 2 major events in recent history made our journey possible; firstly the opening of the rail link between England and France through the channel tunnel and secondly, the reunification of Germany (in particular Berlin) allowing us to take a metro train from (what was) West Berlin to East Berlin. If anyone has undertaken a similar journey or is just interested, I would love to hear from you. I can be contacted easily by email with the address andym@world-photos.net. Other pictures of my brother and I on this journey are also available.

NEW: The photos from this site are now also available in a facebook album.
